For 2010, Block ended his partnership with Subaru, and joined Ford to compete part-time at the World Rally Championship for Monster World Rally Team, where he drove a Ford Focus RS WRC 08 together with long time co-driver Alex Gelsomino.[18] Block therefore became the first ever American driver to campaign for the World Rally Championship. He scored two points after finishing 9th at the Spain. Also, he ran his sixth season of the Rally America Championship in an open class Ford Fiesta, as well as his fifth X Games. On February 27, Block won the Rally in the 100 Acre Wood (Rally America) for the 5th consecutive time. This broke the record held by John Buffum.[19]
In 2009, for the BBC show Top Gear, Block took James May out for Gymkhana-style driving at Block's stunt course at Inyokern Airport, an operational California airport, also starring Ricky Carmichael. In 2010 Block took the feature car from the previous episode (a Reliant Robin) for a lap of the Top Gear test track. He rolled the car and was unable to complete a lap but was unhurt.[37]
In 2007, Block joined the DC Shoes Snowboarding team at New Zealand's Snow Park.[8] Block did massive jumps and assisted in snowboarding tricks while driving his rally car on the mountain alongside the snowboarders. A crash after landing a large jump cracked one of the vertebrae in his spine; he was flown to the hospital. The session made the cover of the December 2007 issue of Snowboarder Magazine and closed out the MTN.LAB 1.5 DVD.[8]
Block appeared in three installments of Codemasters' Dirt racing video games. Block is featured as a driver in 2009's Colin McRae: Dirt 2, along with his Subaru Rally Team USA Impreza. In 2011's Dirt 3 he is seen as a driver and gymkhana teacher, his Monster World Rally Team vehicles are available in the game, including the Ford Fiesta GYM 3, and the Ken Block Ford Focus WRC. His Hoonigan/Monster Ford Fiesta appears extensively in 2012's Dirt: Showdown, and his trademark gymkhana style of driving is featured at the Head-to-Head and Trick Rush race modes as well as the Freestyle section.[68]
His Hoonigan-branded cars have also featured in Microsoft's Forza racing video game series. Their first appearance was in expansion packs for Forza Horizon 3 and Forza Motorsport 7 in 2017.[70] Later they were offered as launch cars for 2018's Forza Horizon 4 and 2021's Forza Horizon 5.[71][72]
Like Need For Speed Shift, there is a well-paced reward system with constant livery, colour, car, sponsor and event unlocks as you complete each event. The trophies are also very well-designed and paced, and will encourage you to play plenty of different game modes.
There are two interior views which is a very nice touch that can enhance gameplay, but the interiors are not representative of the actual cars themselves. The cars get nice and dirty but damage modeling is minimal to non-existent.
WRC 10: FIA World Rally Championship is a rally racing game featuring cars and stages from the 2021 World Rally Championship season. It is developed by Kylotonn, published by Nacon and uses the Kt Engine.

That said, there are still issues that, while once again not the fault of the development team, make playing WRC on the Switch a lot less satisfying than on other systems. The most obvious is the lack of analogue triggers: the game defaults to putting accelerate and brake on ZR and ZL, and while that may be fine for arcade-style racers, when your game revolves around making your way through extremely narrow and perilous landscapes, throttle control can be extremely useful on some of the sharper corners.
The improved frame rate makes WRC 9 a better experience than WRC 8, but it still suffers from a number of issues through no fault of the developer, such as a lack of analogue triggers and a reduced rally count. However, the extremely distracting nature of the scenery, which is constantly drawing itself in right in front of you, makes it difficult to get properly immersed in the action. It's probably the best rally game on the Switch so far, but for fans of the sport, the wait continues for something truly brilliant on the system.
Both Stocksy and nmanifold beat me too it. If you really want a rally game on Switch and are not bothered about graphics, Rush Rally 3 is highly recommended. Just crack on and race. Brings back Colin McRae Rally from the PS1, but in all the "right" ways.
@JayJ I'm always looking for good racing games and I just checked v-rally 4 and it does look good. I'll have to pick it up on the next sale it has though as I'm not paying $50 for it. I'm good with Grid Autosport till then.
@Spoony_Tech Yeah you should be able to pick up a physical copy used for pretty cheap by now, I definitely wouldn't pay $50 for it. GRID Autosport is definitely the best racing game overall on the Switch.
@Needeep hahahhaa yeah, you had to be crazy to pull stuff like that in real life hehehe. And whenever the criticism arrives of the technical side of a game, I always say "and how does the portable version of that console works?" We're actually getting more graphically impressive games on the Switch as time passes by. Who would have thought we could get that level of power on a device like the Switch.
@Zanzox No true, road rally is made even with normal traffic + other competitors. Stage rally is a race with minimum risks to focus into speed. Is the standard this days, I know. Aand with lack of emotion too. Is boring. I will keep asking for a fun rally game like Top Gear Rally.
As for the bit about framerates, I have no issue with 30fps if it is consistent but 60fps is far superior and improves how responsive a game feels to play whilst also looking much smoother. It is apparent Chris doesn't consider it a big deal but that is why people like to know what the framerate is and I appreciate it being addressed in the game's review so thanks.
Sony's revamped PS Plus has launched today in North and South America, breaking down the subscription service into three distinct entities. PlayStation Plus Essential, PlayStation Plus Extra, and PlayStation Plus Premium all come with their own perks, with the biggest draw being an expansive library of games to dive into.
While PS Plus Essential is the current version with all of its online multiplayer access, exclusive discounts, cloud storage, free monthly games, and the PS Plus Collection intact, it's PS Plus Extra and Premium where you'll find a huge library of games to dive into. Combined, there are almost 400 games to access between the two tiers, as well as Ubisoft+ games that have been inherited from the now discontinued PS Now.
PS Plus Premium, the top tier, packs in all of the benefits of the two memberships below it and throws in extra games from the PS3, PS2, PSP, and PlayStation libraries. It's worth noting that PS3 games will be available via streaming only and the rest of the library can be accessed through a mix of downloading and streaming options.
Another benefit to this tier are time-limited trials for available and current games, giving you a chunk of a game to explore before you decide to spend some money on it. We've rounded up all the games below that you'll be able to play in the new PS Plus tiers. It's a long list, so if you're looking for recommendations, we've put together a list of the best new PlayStation Plus games for Premium and Extra members to check out.
PS Plus Extra and Essential's main library is made up of hundreds of great PS4 and PS5 games that have been available on the consoles over the years. There's a number of recent games available here--such as Insomniac's Spider-Man titles and Ghost of Tsushima--and you can find some modern-day classics in the mix as well.
For retro fans, the classic games catalog will be a big draw for them as it offers access to a healthy selection of iconic games from the past. Pulled from across multiple PlayStation generations, there's plenty to discover and relive with this blast from the past.
