Download VERIFIED Browser For Mac Os X 10.4

Firefox notifies me that I'm not running the latest version (I have 3.6.24 GTB7.1) and to download the version compatible with my older system (Mac Tiger 10.4.11). I click on that link and can find nothing that states what systems the version(s) there are compatible with. I have in the past downloaded and installed an incompatible version, a situation to avoid for obvious reasons.
The 10.4.11 Update is recommended for all users running Mac OS X Tiger and includes general operating system fixes that enhance the stability, compatibility and security of your Mac. This update also includes Safari 3, the latest version of Apple's web browser.
Autoupdate will only update the current system (e.g. 10.4.0 -> 10.4.11), not upgrade it (e.g. 10.4.x -> 10.5.x). Whether you can upgrade depends on the hardware model; you can look it up at everymac.com (look for the \"Maximum MacOS\" statistic).
If you can run a newer version of Mac OS X, getting an installer disc may be tricky. For example, if you can run 10.5 Leopard, archive.org has several Leopard Install DVD images. 9A343 is a beta-test build, so you don't want that, but there seem to be two drop-in DVD images (part #2Z691-6040-A) which IIRC is what Apple \"dropped into\" computers that had been manufactured but not sold when 10.5 came out, so it should work. You'll need to burn it to a DVD-R, then boot from that to do the installation. Then download & install the 10.5.8 combo update and then security update 2012-003.
I own an old white iMac running OS X 10.4 which still functions, but when I try to use Safari or Firefox to browse the web I get \"security violation\" issues. I assume these old browsers don't have the latest secure (https) features. Any solutions out there or must I discard this otherwise nice computer These days any computer without a web browser is crippled.
As you suspected the issue is related to using HTTPS, specifically the cryptographic protocols SSL and TLS that provide both authentication and data encryption over the Internet. Older versions of OS X only supported SSL or TLS v1.0. Most, if not all, of today's websites require, at least, TLS v1.2, in order to create a secure connection when you preface a URL with HTTPS. TLS v1.2 support was added with OS X 10.10.4 (Mavericks). Tiger OS X 10.4 only supported SSL v3.0 & TLS v1.0
I'm not sure I follow your proposed solution to the OP. You are proposing substituting one weak security link (SSL) for another (WEP) ... is that correct Also, what does the wireless encryption standard (WEP, WPA, or WPA2) have to do with the IP cryptographic protocols SSL & TLS Are you saying that by disabling either WPA or WPA2, and enabling WEP, a pre-Mavericks Mac can run a web browser that supports TLS v1.2
After you close the browsers, the uninstaller continues automatically until the uninstallation is complete. When you see the message notifying you that the uninstallation succeeded, click Done.
Bookmark or print this page so that you can use the rest of these instructions after you close your browser. Close all browsers and other applications that use Flash Player, including instant messaging applications, SWF files, and projectors (EXE files that play SWF files). Otherwise, the uninstaller cannot finish (even though it appears to finish).
After a decade-long run, Camino is no longer being developed, and we encourage all users to upgrade to a more modern browser. Camino is increasingly lagging behind the fast pace of changes on the web, and more importantly it is not receiving security updates, making it increasingly unsafe to use.

While I no longer have any G3 machines in active service, my wife is still using a 700 MHz iBook G3 running Mac OS X 10.4.11 Tiger, and I have two old Pismo PowerBooks in production and road warrior service, both with 550 MHz G4 processor upgrades and also running 10.4.11.

I asked a few others around the office here if anyone was still actively using a PowerPC machine. Interestingly enough, while several of us had the machines in question for tinkering, nostalgia, or stand-alone tasks (ie. as a media server, file server, print server, etc.), none of the co-workers I asked were actively using their machines for web browsing. But a few suggestions for some alternative browsers were made. After doing a little research on each, I settled on three to try.
Another easy to use web browser on a PowerMac G4 is OmniWeb which is now free. There was a version upgrade in about 2012 and it runs fine although it does not have the built in protection of than TenFourFox.
Another option, of course, would be for him to run PowerPC Linux on his machine. I am writing this comment on my Power Mac G4 Quicksilver running Debian. Iceweasel (Firefox) is a very capable browser that is secure and up-to-date. Just a thought.
The Camino Project has worked to create a browser that is as functional and elegant as the computers it runs on. The Camino Web browser is powerful, secure, and ready to meet the needs of all users while remaining simple and elegant in its design.
