The next step is to gain experience with this technique, so that it can be used in other experiments in the future. With the help of the Artec Eva and the Artec Studio , the Artec group has just received an order for making the mold for a prototype. This project will be presented at the trade show of the Association of the Contractors of the Netherlands (VNG) in November, and the project will be launched in March 2013. After this, we hope to apply this method to all the needs of our customers.

The data obtained using the Artec Eva have been used to create 3D models that replicate the object (Fig. 9). The model was used to make a 3D print (Fig. 10a). The new model has been used to create a mold, from which the seats can be made using lost mold techniques (Fig. 10b).

The prototype developed by Artec is exhibited in Fig. 11. This is an integrated circuit (IC) mounted on a metal plate used to support it in the 3D scanner (Fig. 12). The scanning system is composed of a set of cameras and a 3D reconstruction system, equipped with light projectors. The scanner is connected to a computer used for data processing and 3D reconstruction.The 3D scanner is equipped with a precision pan/tilt/zoom system, for the acquisition of images with the best possible resolution and a maximum depth of view.
