These are all just a few of the ideas and inspirations that have come to me over the past year. I would be interested in hearing yours. I am starting to develop some notes for this adventure somewhere and hopefully, it will be completed this year.

I am also going to make sure that if I do get lost in one system for a while, I have some other source of inspiration. So use your imagination, experiment, and try new things. And, try to put some of it into practice. That is the best kind of inspiration.

The best thing about the OSR is the great amount of content. Some fantastic products are out there. But even more so, there are hundreds of other great products to download. Unless you buy a book, you can get a PDF of most of them. And that is the problem with the OSR. It is so easy to get into it, and yet it is so hard to stay in it and get out.

I also own and have run the Kaijudo II which is a D&D-based OSR game that I designed and ran, and also have published to DriveThruRPG. I think that game is a good fit for this campaign, and I believe that as players have had a bit of time to play Kaijudo II in the other system, they will have a good sense of what works and doesn't work in it, and that could be an advantage.

I'm mixing them up because in my opinion, it's the best way to go. I can simply run the 8th edition rules as a guide, and then run the house rules as I see fit. I can easily combine my house rules with other campaign settings like Greyhawk, OD’s Forgotten Realms, the recent Paizo spellcasting books, etc. I can also do a little bit of math and say, “Uh, ’blood” is about ’1/2”, run those odds in the way I think is most logical, at least 1-2’ blood to get rid of it.”
